Shindaiwa F220 Grass Trimmer First Start After Winter and Review

In case it isn't clear from the video - there are two spoken bits in the middle of it - I think it's a very good trimmer.

Pros

Motor works well.
Starts well, even the first cold start after winter (smoke comes from oil left intentionally in the cylinder for the winter for conservation purposes).
Compact.
Dispenser for the line works well.

Cons
Noisy.
Some vibration.

1996 Electronika 01 Quasar Clock

Here is my Electronika 01 Quasar Clock bought as new in 1996 but no longer used.

The clock is still in working order and I even managed to set the time and make it run without an instruction manual which has long been misplaced.

The clock has an alarm and shows current times in two modes - hours and minutes and minutes and seconds.

Powered from the mains 220 V.

Time indication is a nice green hue but not very bright; it's possible that the vacuum display has degraded a bit after 20 years.

The rest is in the video.

But the video is in Russian, so here's a little re-cap.

First, I introduce the clock saying that it is a 1996 electronic clock.

Then I power it - my 2008 ford focus has a 220 V outlet in the back of the center console.

After that I try to figure out how to set the time and make it run and I eventually succeed.

The clock is fully operational after 20 years.

Climbing Stairs Good for You

Climbing stairs is apparently good for you, burns lots of calories.

In Moscow's Metro, first time I saw it. I don't know how long it has been there or when it appeared.

V DAY Molnija Pocket Watch feat. Joseph Stalin [re-post]

V day in Russia today, so reposting my earlier relevant post below

My Molnija (MOL-nee-yah) pocket watch with Joseph Stalin on the case front cover.

This one is in a hunter case.

Joseph Stalin.

In fact, it is not just Stalin; but the front and back are exact reproductions of the obverse and reverse of the Soviet medal for Victory over Germany.

Compare.

The obverse (front lid).

And...

The reverse (back case cover).

A small seconds hand at 9 o'clock.

As regards the movement, it is powered by the Molnija cal 3602 movement -- a large pocket watch handwind movement, with quite a pedigree. However, seeing as this watch is from the 2000s, the movement is in its later version -- rough finishing, yellow plates. In short, rather despised by most collectors. I opened the case and looked at and, even though I made no photos, it is exactly like the movement in my Pearl Molnija watch from the same period.

More photos.

Winter is gone (not quite per current weather) but winter street art remains.

Quoting below from my other blog.

Some urban scenes with street art in winter 2017 in Moscow.

VreMax: Vostok 2433 Open Heart

Here is one of the more popular watches on this website as catalogued earlier on this blog (in 2014 in fact).

Let's now revisit below that earlier post.

A Vostok 2433 watch - open heart - a 2433 automatic movement.

The open heart is at 12 o'clock.

The back.

The movement.

This must be the cal. 2433 like the one below...

But the bridge is still stamped 2416 B.

With the back removed, you can clearly see the "hole in the heart".

In fact, this watch needs a display caseback... then you could see right through it.

Question of the price: about $60 on Vostok's website [in Russian].
