Beer Walk on August 12 - 4 Beers and 25,000 Steps and 15 km

Beer Walk on August 12 - 4 Beers and 25,000 Steps! And probably about 15 km!

Yesterday we had a long beer walk, in fact a whole trek, and by "beer walk" I mean a walk where we trek through scenic locations here in Moscow but I personally also drink some beer on the go - and of late - like since three years ago - I have only been drinking craft and microbrewery beer and almost always a new one each time with very few repeats.

Appropriately, things were kicked off with a 0.5l dose of breakfast stout.

The Brewlok Yaga Breakfast stout with heavy coffee notes and 6 abv.

It was quite nice for the type but I can't say that breakfast stout is my favorite style in craft beer.

The breakfast stout was followed soon after with a currant saison style beer, a red currant sour ale.

I think it was good again for the type but that I should have chosen some other style for my second beer as by that time I wanted something sweeter and less sour.

Still it drank quite nice and resembled some mild red wine. I think it was matured in wine casks.

Some views from the location where I thus consumed my second beer and was feeling some effects in a pleasant mild way.

Grasses at the Moscow Botanical Garden through which we were walking at that point in time, having passed through the Ostankino park.

A picturesque pond in August - right near this beautiful location I was pleased to relieve myself by emptying my bladder under a tree - satisfying needs in nature and in the vicinity of trees is supposed to be very healthy and good for you and good for the environment too.

Japanese Garden.

Hours.

And now here it is - beer No. 3.

A peach flavored IPA by Bakunin Brewery.

I think  I mentioned it already once on the blog but here goes again: having tasted over 150 craft beers from all over world in the past 3 years, at this point I have come at the conclusion and am of the opinion that Russian craft beer is the best beer in the world. End of story.

Now, this place below looks like a good place to photograph my fourth beer of the walk - and the last one!

Gose with yuzu.

By this time I can't say that I cared that much whether it was with Yuzu or something else.

However, it was a pleasant enough gose style beer with yuzu if a bit on the sour side again.

And finally it's dark already and the beer walk is over.

Proof: 23441 steps, I guess it's about 15 km.

What's happening to Google Play Music is a disgrace, Google must be held accountable

What's happening to Google Play Music is a disgrace, Google must be held accountable

Google is moving Google Play Music to Youtube, including your libraries of music that you paid for to be available to you on Google Play Music.

Who else thinks it's wrong and is in fact a felony of some sorts.

I bought some music titles, downloaded them once, and keep them on Google Play Music, and nobody never said they could be deleted on a whim of some dumb Google bot.

If you buy music and pay for it on Google Play Music you expect it to stay like forever on Google Play Music because that's what you paid for and that was implied if not specifically stipulated.

I don't want my music to go under that stupid Wojcicki woman's control on Youtoob, next thing that happens will be her stealing my payment methods details and subscribing me to Youtube Premium or some dumb useless Youtube service like that without my knowledge.

Her Youtube already sits on $100 of my money and refuses to pay up. It's a small amount to be sure but imagine Youtube doing that to millions of uploaders, how much money are they stealing now!?

And what will happen to Google Books - will they also go to Youtube?

It's a freaking disgrace.

My Summer Linen Jacket Analyzed

Here is my 2020 summer linen jacket from the glorious (?) Banana Rep. brand.

Though I had some doubts at first seeing as the fine article of clothing in question was procured by myself from a discount store and much reduced in pricing, I am really beginning to love it!

And what's not to love:
Shell: 100% linen (Good!)
Front body lining: 50% acetate, 50% nylon (Good!)
Back body lining: 61% polyester (Bad!), 39% rayon/viscose (Good! - almost like silk only more durable)
Sleeve lining: 61% polyester (Bad!), 39% rayon/viscose (Good!)

See, it has everything - the Good, the Bad... and  who's the Ugly?

Color is grey sky; and pattern-wise the fabric is linen mini houndstooth.

Also, it appears to be very susceptible to wrinkling and creasing and bunching and what not which is in my view a good thing but only on a linen jacket; hey but ain't it one of them - amazing coincidence!

And doesn't it give you something to do on those long summer days -- even if they are fast getting short in August -- like getting those wrinkles and creases all properly set and in place so as not to have to start from scratch all over again come next summer, covid-19 permitting.

So far so good but do need more summer time.

Fortunately, the astronomical summer isn't over until September 21, so there is plenty of time yet.

And wrinkles and creases are pretty easy to cultivate on this here garment as I already mentioned.

Driving in it, takes care of the back very effectively.

To ID the garment, I did my searches on the internet utilizing some info on the lable - why did I even bother? - anyway it appears to be a Spring 2016 offering from BR and quite pricey at the time as it was at over $200; however I got it much cheaper last summer at a discount store brand new with tags.

Sleeves had to be shortened and the functional "surgeon's cuff" was ruthlessly disposed of.

Shortening from the shoulder, although a more technically correct decision, was judged by my alterations tailor to be impossible as when the sleeve is lifted it becomes narrower and I happen to have 50 cm upper arm, complete with biceps and triceps not just lumps of fat, so wouldn't be able to squeeze into the new sleeve.

Abandoned Quay at Orevo

Gentleman's report for August 06, 2020

Well, today, on August 06, 2020, this gentleman went on his usual trip through a particular area in Central Moscow called the Arbat and frequently mentioned on this blog.

Dropped in an old book store...

... opened it at random... and guess what )

I wonder how this particular advice is still applicable in times of Covid-19?

Maybe, instead of kissing each other on the cheek or shaking hands as we used to do, we should now kiss one another on the genitals or touch them as a form of greeting?

I mean if they are a lot less unsanitary as our mouths? However, I don't want to go too far on this one....

***

Then on to the New Arbat, and a Uniqlo is about to open a store there.

Not that I have any plans to patronize it in the near future.

A July Walk in Moscow on Arbat, incl Tsoi Wall

As I already reported in a capsule form elsewhere on this blog, on July 14 had to have a business trip downtown Moscow, specifically the famed Arbat area, to dispatch some errands good.

At Viktor Tsoi wall, some kind of memorial to same.

On the old Arbat.

Some restaurants are closed and gone post-Covid-19, including one I patronized at least once.

Samsonite and yours truly about to have a two-beer lunch.

One of the beers, a tomato gose.

The new Arbat.
