Wristwatch: Komandirskie 2414A

Komandirskie 2414A manual wind watch.

Here it is -- on my wrist. Komandirskie actually means an Army commander's (watch). It is splash- and some shock resistant.

Note the quirky and unusual case shape... something like an eight-point star... and the crown... which is at about 1:30 o'clock. I have to say that there is not much convenience of use gained by placing it there instead of its usual place at 3 o'clock.

However I do like the way the case looks... almost like some on-wrist device from a sci-fi movie.

The movement also looks nice.

Some box- and unboxing photos. First, the box it came in. I bought it new.

Some ref (?) number.

Unboxing.

A full view on the watch. The cheap Vostok strap only looks cheap. In fact, it is genuine pressed leather with some water resist treatment. But, of course, a Komandirskie watch, while water resistant, is not a diver's watch.

The star-like case... which I think looks good.

The crown is at 1:30 and is a typical Vostok screw-on crown.

The case back.

The case is chrome-plated... and I expect the chrome to come off quick as they are now using environmentally and health-wise friendly chrome-plating processes which are unfortunately unable to produce as strong a plating or coating as was the case, say, in Soviet times. The back case cover and ring are however stainless steel.

The back's off.

Here it is... the Russian-period 2414 A manual wind movement.

Manual in Russian.

  1. 531124 is the model number of your watch:
    53 - case shape
1 - case color (9, for example, is used for gold)
    124 - dial

So, for example, this dial in my favorite Komandirskie case type would be 431124.

The same goes for Vostok Amphibia watches. The Amphibia case shapes, however, are usually referred to with 3 digits, as all of them have the same "color" (actually no color as they're stainless steel) for which 0 is used.

So, a tonneau shaped Amphibia with your dial would be 090124. This is probably not something you could buy new as not all combinations exist. Some dials are used for Amphibias as well as Komandirskies, some are exclusive to one or the other. They're the same size though, so it's possible to have an Amphibia with a Komandirskie-exclusive dial and vice versa.

  2. Hi, what color would you say the dial is? I'm thinking about buying this exact same watch but I've seen a difference in the color depending on the picture, do you have any more posts on this watch? Have you modded anything on it?
