Autumn Travels and Seeing Nadia Leger Portrait Mosaics

Autumn Travels and Seeing Nadia Leger Portrait Mosaics

Another autumn travel trip, aka business trip, to the city of Dubna somewhere not far from Moscow, Russia, just came to pass.

During some free time, some photos were quickly taken, dozens of them in fact, so here they are, starting with these beautiful mosaic portraits of famous people, mainly Russians but not exclusively, by the renowned Russian born French artist Nadia Léger, aka Nadia Khodasevich (Grabowski) Léger, about whom you can read in the linked wikipedia entry.

Dmitry Shostakovitch is above, and the others are very recognizable also.

Leo Tolstoy, of course.

Poet Mayakovsky.

These are the 10 mosaic portraits that are in the alley in front of the Mir Culture Center in Dubna.

The other five are on the opposite side.

This escapes me.

Composer Tchaikovsky.

Maxim Gorky.

 More after the jump.

Out and About in Moscow: VDNKh on July 5, 2020

Out and About in Moscow: VDNKh on July 5, 2020.

So, on the date first above written, just went on a long trek through the famed VDNKh facility in Moscow with an equally long detour to the Moscow Botanical Garden.

Lots of flowers and fountains; the one below is the Friendship of People's fountain.

This one is the Stone Flower fountain which was renovated last year I think.

As I said lots of flowers everywhere, and also lots of people, hardly anyone is wearing a face mask, the whole Coronavirus thing seems like a distant memory.

Here is a place to eat out soon - the Moscow Sky Restaurant.

Horse sculpture.

And yet another fountain - the Golden Ear fountain.

In the Moscow Botanical Garden - people nearly trampled all of the grass in their effort to take pictures with flowers.

Paintings on Arbat

Some paintings for sale on Arbat street in Moscow, yesterday on February 20, 2020.

Traditional Russian village bathhouse...

Gallows humor.

Watermelons and lemons... that's an unusual combination.

Roofs of old Arbat.
