USSR Cars Exhibition

Another car show at Moscow VDNKh -- Cars of Our Back Yard -- USSR cars.

Not the first car-themed show I saw at the location -- in August last year we saw Car Industry of the USSR.

But that time I was lazy to make too many photos. This time however I made over 200!

So it's in parts.

Part 1 - the Moskvitch -- they were the most numerous. 

Entrance to the Exhibition - Pavilion No. 2.

Tickets - RUB 250.

Exhibit No. 1 - 1954 Moskvitch 401-422, Woodie station wagon, typically used as a light commercial vehicle (LCV) at the time, to use present day's terminology.

This car deserves to star in an own movie.

1957 Moskvitch 410, full wheel drive

Front wheel.

Like a real car, it drips, which further proves that these cars are real.

1963 Moskvitch 403 - export model

Different fascia, somewhat gentrified.

1964 Moskvitch 408, quad headlights, also coach lights (kind of) on C-pillar.

In my opinion, this is the best front end the Moskvitch ever had.

Moskvich 2141 with "If it's not Boeing..." sticker

Moskvitch (or Moskvich) 2141... abandoned on the pavement by the side of the road.

The Moskvitch 2141 is one of those (many) cars, both domestic Russian and foreign, that I kinda wanted to buy but never did and never will already. 

 

 Personally, I like these late-1980s rear light clusters.

This one with a sticker and the sticker says, "If it's not Boeing, I'm not going".

And even it it IS Boeing, you're still not going.

Moskvitch Cars: Moskvitch Izh 2715

This post is the start of a new car spotting series of posts on my blog. 

It will be dedicated to the Moskvitch -- the car named after Moscow meaning a "citizen of Moscow", in production from 1945 to about 2005 when the international capitalists that had come in after the dissolution of the Soviet Union (and their local aiders and abetters) finally managed to destroy it. 

But I am going to remember the Moskvitch on my blog, with the help of Russian citizenry still driving these cars.

Starting with this clean Moskvitch Izh 2715 Panel Van body.

The Izh 2715 is an Izhevsk produced Panel Van variant of the Moskvitch 412, pre-1982.

Still somebody's daily driver and working car, no doubt.

Love the Moskvitch 408 grille and fascia... as interpreted by the Izhevsk car factory.
