Pobeda ZiM 2602 Lada Edition

Here is another late Pobeda by ZiM.

This one is featuring a lada car on the dial which is the Lada VAZ-21099 sedan.

The watch is powered by the Pobeda 2602 movement in a late ZiM version. However, I have no movements shots at this time.

Cardi Pobeda 2602 Radar Dial

A Cardi (Pobeda) Radar Dial watch with a ZiM 2602 movement is another watch from my collection to be catalogued on this blog.

Bought NOS (new old stock) and BNIB (brand new in box) in 2013. 

The watch itself is late 1990s - early 2000s.

With the name apparently being an abbreviation of Car Design, Cardi was a Russian manufacturing company in the 1990s - early 2000s that produced watches, among other things, first, using Russian movements and placing orders in Russian factories then using Chinese movements before disappearing by the year 2005 or thereabouts.

They were frequently adding some new styling touches.

This distinctive dial is one of my favorites. It is known as Radar, you can see some Radar related motifs easily, also several numerical scales, military-redundancy style.

Pobeda ZiM Radar Dial 2602 Watch

Another ZiM Pobeda watch from my collection. I have many of them.

In fact, I have more left than I have cataloged so far on this blog. 

BNIB... aka brand new in box (with papers).

What I like is the color of the face which is old parchment-like.

Also the face design. I happen to know that this design is called Radar. You can easily see radar-related motifs here. And there are no less than 4 numerical scales... talk about overreach redundancy military style.

I have more radar-dialed watches so more will be forthcoming. 

I remember even wanting to get me a nice collection specifically of these radar-dialed watches (that is, mostly ZiMs but also a related Cardi or two).

A good and memorable dial.

1970s ZiM 2602 Decorated Movement

A ZiM watch powered by an instance of the Pobeda / ZiM 2602 movement, decorated.

The watch has been in the family since 1975 at least. Note the green residue -- brass oxidization -- coming up even through the chrome plating (what's left of it).

Nothing much to see on the dial side, the acrylic crystal is all cracked so I am not even showing it... in order not to distract from the movement.

The movement is decorated... even the inside of the back is decorated for good measure using the Perlage (Perlée) technique.

The ZiM / Pobeda 2602 movement used to power the cheapest and most mass-produced watch in the USSR. Yet the movement itself is far from cheap. It is closely related to the premium Euro watches of the 1930s-40s which is easy to see especially in this decorated version as opposed to later variants (the movement was produced well into the 2000s). 

One step above it in collectors' hierarchy is a Pobeda 2602 dated movement, this one is ZiM's undated movement.

If you look closely you will see that not only the bridges are decorated -- striped but the underlying plate is finely decorated too.
