Aviation Clock AChS-1

Here is an old but still functioning aviation clock AChS-1 which was previously cataloged on this blog in this post - AChS-1V Aviation Clock

It is much older than myself but still works.

Has the following functions: time keeping function, stop watch x 2, flight time counter for 24 hours with a day-night mode; power reserve is 48 hours (but in fact much more), basically this clock is a mechanical instrument chronograph. 

It is a hand wind clock. i.e. you wind it manually.

We use it as a kitchen clock.

AChS-1V Aviation Clock

My AChS-1V aviation clock also known as a board or panel clock. Typically found in an aircraft instrument cluster.

No, it doesn't ride with me in the car... just sits in the kitchen of my country home.

It is a good time measuring device. It is actually a chronograph -- has a stopwatch. And it also has a "flight time" counter. You wind it once and it goes up to 3 days on full winding.

It's been in the family for 30 or something years. And probably did some service on an actual plane before that (may be not).

There are two version of the AChS-1V clock -- this one which is the more recent of the two and the other one where it says "2 days" on the face in white paint. It is possible that the clock is still in production [in Russian].

There is lume on the hands and indexes which glows green in the dark.

AChS-1 Board Clock on Dashboard

Last summer I made some pics of my AChS-1V aviation clock that I keep at my country log cabin. As a backdrop I used the dashboard of my 2008 Second Gen Ford Focus II face-lifted (European).

I thought it looked good in that setting. The idea crossed my mind of how interesting it would be to install it in or on the dash kind of permanently.

Turns out I am far from the first who has ever had that idea.

A week back I was watching on Youtube a 1972 Russian film Gonshchiki (Rally Racers) featuring rally driving in the Moskvich 412 one of my favorite cars, like this one (Internet pictures).

Nice interiors! Check out the bordello-red (vinyl -- no animals were harmed etc.) seats and upholstery, nicely combined with the black dashboard & central stack.

And in some of the rally cars shown in the film, they definitely had an early version of AChS-1 installed on the dashboard in the center.
