Dacha Trophy
Back from my Dacha where I captured this trophy... but only on camera... what is known as the May Beetle (or bug) in Russia and something else elsewhere.
They flew in yesterday -- must have been having their "flight" -- and were knocking against the lamp on the porch and the lighted windows -- big and crunchy... made tremendous noise crashing into those things so I turned off the light.
It is a large animal.. for a beetle... but not too scary.Check out the "seven leaf" antennas -- it is a male bug.
About to take off -- spreading its wings
When there are a lot of them (like in the past times before pesticides) they are definitely an agricultural pest. But there are not many of them anymore. On the other hand, the fact that there are still some proves it is not too bad with ecology around where my dacha is.
Bonus: my dacha watch and clock -- a Komandirskie and AChS-1V, an aviation clock, used as a desktop clock.

Vostok Komandirskie 2416B Tank Dial
Johnny Depp had one...
...And so do I. Although his is from the late 1980s while mine is recent -- 2012.
It is running at + 20 seconds per 24 hours but is consistent, and the chrome plating is not what it used to be -- it wears off quickly at points of contact.
Still rate it as a good watch overall.

In case someone is wondering the tank (although very stylized) is likely to be a T-62 type tank, distinguishable mainly by where the fume extractor is on the barrel.
If you don't believe me, I invite you to consult this guide (filter all political and propaganda stuff though).
This watch is an auto Komandirskie -- it is intermediate between the Vostok Amphibia(n) proper and the Komandirskie proper.
It differs from the Amphibia in that the case is chrome-plated brass and not stainless steel. From the regular Komandirskie it differs in that it has a self-winding Vostok 2416B movement like the Amphibia does.

Celebrity Watch: Johnny Depp with a Komandirskie Tank Black Dial Watch
Johnny Depp in this picture with his (?) Komandirskie black tank dial watch.
ETA:
Full (?) 1998 Michel Haddi Johnny Depp Komandirskie photo shoot.
The bezel strongly suggests it is still a USSR watch, probably a 2414 manual wind movement.
I have a Komandirskie tank watch too, a current Russian version, and am going to post some pictures soon.
