Focus on: Glenn O'Brien

Focus on Glenn O'Brien - Glenn O'Brien's place

Wrote this book

Also, ran this column, of course. Style Guy GQ

Style Guy's greatest hits

 Glennobrien website

There's a thought from the maestro:

Supposedly pirates wore gold earrings so if their body washed up somewhere it would cover burial expenses.

Supposedly I wear my gold signet ring for the same purpose.

Today's Outing: Still Peacoat Season

Today's outing: the pea coat season is still going on but spring is in the air.

Some bite to eat.

I ate it all!

Although it took quite some time - little by little, pick by pick, you know.

Flied lice was pretty good ).

From the peas back to the pea coat.

The pea coat is a Banana Republic thing, not current, from about two years back, on the tag it says Melton wool, on the label, Fabric by Mario Berlucci for BR, that's all I know.

My Green Sport Coat

For the very best in menswear and style, here is my green (and PoW check) sport coat from the 1990s.

On second thoughts, this may be not a POW check, more like stripes?

On third thoughts, I am leaning to this actually being a POW check because in some pics it does appear to be it.

E5e7, Rick!

Actually, Bogart was a strong semi-professional chess player and a chess umpire, although untrained formally, and neither am I.

It's anything but tailored, more like a sack-y thing, yet has served its purpose well for over 30 years already but in some years there were only 3-5 wears a year and in some there were none.

In the thirty odd years it was not cleaned once; and as its heyday really fell on the late 1990s and early 2000s there are some stains on it to remind one of the activities of the time resembling, shall we say, dark red wine or something similar looking haha.

Steve Job's Outfit

I know it's a bit late in the day (or in the decade even) but here is the late, great Steve Job's outfit - a classic.

Fly Tie

Here me is sporting my fly tie that I bought as a joke but think now it can get some wear, especially with brown, grey and cream.

A cheap polyester tie by Marks & Spencer.

Also a 110s wool jacket of local provenance, semi-canvas, and a cotton cream shirt.

Plus a pair of stretch wool pants in a subtle brown hue.

All the colors are pretty well matched and coordinated, wouldn't you say so?

A Late Lunch on Three Beers and Some Pistachios

In a return to my Beer, Beer Appreciation and Beer Photography series of posts, here is a report on a very recent visit to a craft beer bar here in Moscow and for the first time since the pandemic struck, I think.

The dumb Google Blogger picture uploader once again reversed the sequence of photos, so I am starting crabwise from the end rather than from the beginning.

Beer No. 3/136 (on the day/overall to date)

Beer No. 2/135

 Beer No. 1/134

The date was December 3, 2020

And here is the place.

A hole in the wall kind of place next to a major commuter train station with an appropriate scenery - nothing much to look at during the day ... but at night atmospheric.

Fit with Yellow Tie

Here is a fit with a yellow paisley tie.

A yellow Boss paisley tie with a black DB blazer, some navy shirt.

In other words, putting styleforum to shame.

Arched tie - live and learn from the best.

(in other words, tie has a boner)

But seriously, what I learned from this fit (and elsewhere) is that a yellow tie works with a navy shirt and a black blazer (and olive trousers too) but maybe not with all of them at the same time.

Monday OOTD with a red tie

Here is my blue Monday OOTD with a red tie.

... and a black DB blazer.

Yes, I know, black, navy and red would never work as they create a major clash of colors, and all primary colors I believe, however I have been wearing this outfit all day long this Monday and hasn't been arrested by the fashion police yet (but maybe because they are too scared of me... there's that)

Also, the dumb camera seems to have liked the tie, it picked it up over everything else and amplified its luster in particular; but it isn't as dramatic in real life, more subdued I think.

Tie.

Well, I guess I screwed it all up again, this is how I should have worn it:

Or may be even like that... but need to buy some brass buttons with anchors first

But still, you know, much better that the usual fare on a certain style forum.
