News of the Scent Library: Lalique Equus EDP

News of own Scent Library - it is growing slowly but surely, this time with the addition of a bottle of Lalique Pour Homme Equus EDP

 

Horse water.

A bottle of Lalique Equus EDP 75 ml...

... except it doesn't say Equus anywhere just pour homme.

It is nice and very different from the stuff I usually douse myself with.

 

On first impressions, the bottle feels cheap though, the horse head is not embossed just thinly etched, the tester at the store had a much better bottle, with a proper horse head in relief, but the cap is all right - clicks solid.

 

My House of Bogart (Scents)

Here is the state of the House of Bogart in my toilet cupboard subsequent to the new arrivals of One Man Shows.

 

Left to right: One Man Show Original, One Man Show Emerald Edition, One Man Show Ruby Edition, One Man Show Oud Edition.

Although I am a frequent user of scents nowadays - each time I go out - I have some library of scents and these might actually last me a lifetime (what's left of it which is still plenty).

Wore Oud Edition a couple of times and I have to report that, after a promising beginning with what seemed for a while like notes of pine in the style of Encre Noire, it is not that great and gets worse with time, can be worn but that's about it.

New In: Bogart by Jacques Bogart eau de toilette

Here is something new for today... as in "new in my scent library"... but other than that, pretty old and in fact discontinued... but still widely available but mainly on the Internet.

Tried this on today but so far underwhelming. 

It's fresh and green yet not enough projection after 6 sprays under clothes.

ETA:

Came home and re-sprayed it some, and, with just home wear on, it smelled stronger and strong enough for me to definitely like it this time - fresh, clean, after a while nice clean soapiness, and I personally like a bit of soapiness at the end.

I think I am going to try more sprays next time I wear it.

 News from the scent library: Davidoff Cool Water 40 ml

 

A new arrival and addition to my earthen (whatever the fk it means) scent library: a 40 ml bottle of Davidoff Cool Water which I remember from earlier times like decades ago.

Not tried it on yet though but will soon of course.

Over on fragrantica people have been complaining that this frag has had so many reformulations since the 1989 original and all of them for the worse.

Last time I wore it was in the early 2000s.

You could say that I am almost looking forward to wearing it again.

 

A Simpler Scent for Everyday Use

 Have developed a liking for this simpler and more vulgar scent, also much cheaper too.

Denim Original eau de toilette but also Denim Black which I mentioned earlier on the blog.

Actually, this scent is nothing new as it previously existed as an after-shave, starting from the late 1980s, and I myself frequently used it in the 1990s - early 2000s but then it seemed to have disappeared for a while.

It is notable that at that time it was manufactured by Elida Faberge (an Averell Harriman company, the very same one) and Unilever.

But this version appears to be a re-launch and is now made by some Italian company, unrelated to the above, however as far as I can tell, it smells authentic.

I guess Original is a variety of Fougère and Chypre type of scents.

New in Own Scent Library: Burberry London

 Here is a new scent in my scent collection, Burberry London.

 

 I tried it in a store and liked it enough to buy, also bought because it is somehow on my list of scents to try, which I keep on my Russian blog, though I don't remember exactly how and why it got there.

 

Like I said I liked after tried it at the store but yet to wear it day-to-day.

But I don't think I'll be disappointed.

It's nice enough but without artsy-fartsy sophistication which is not a bad thing.

The bottle has a nice England-themed textile wrap... but as to the textile, we have our own not less characteristic.

 

 Reviews on basenotes are overwhelmingly positive.
