Poljot 2612 Powered ZZero Mechanical Wrist Alarm Watch

Poljot 2612 Powered ZZero Mechanical Wrist Alarm - New Addition to Collection

Here is a new addition to collection as of very recently.

It was chosen to join my collection because it is (i) a mechanical alarm wristwatch (!) and (ii) mysteriously powered by a Poljot 2612 movement !!!

Case is all stainless steel.

Crystal is mineral glass. There is still protective film on the crystal.

ZZero is an Italian watch company that has watches made for it in China, it's still up and running and there is a website, google search finds it.

Back says 19 jewels, movement says 18.. where has one jewel gone?

Tested it and been wearing since yesterday, so far operates good in all departments.

A few words from this blogger (and drawing on various online sources) on the Poljot 2612 movement.

The Poljot 2612 is a manual wind (mechanical) alarm wristwatch movement.

It may or may not be a copy of the AS 1475 but in any case it is very similar.

Operating Instruction:
Wind watch: use crown at 4 o'clock.
Set time: pull crown at 4 o'clock and set time. If you set the time reverse and pass the alarm time, this will be set reverse simultaneously.
Wind alarm: use crown at 2 o'clock.
Set alarm: pull crown at 2 o'clock and set alarm time. The alarm time can only be set reverse, setting forward is inhibited by a freewheel.
Enable alarm: push crown at 2 o'clock.
Disable alarm: pull crown at 2 o'clock.

Mechanical alarm wristwatches are currently very rare and getting rarer, Swiss movements are few and very expensive and only in luxury watches costing around $10,000 a piece.

Affordable wrist alarm mechanical watches are almost non-existent now since the Poljot 2612 went out of production during 2008-11.

But Poljot 2612 movements can still be found in surprising places in NOS watches as in this one.

Watch of the Day Today

Here is my watch of the day today... and today is the first working day after New Year here in Russia and I am back at work.

A flight navigator's watch aka Shturmanskie will always land him in a good spot.

Watchuseek... the Worst Watch Forum... In The World

Watchuseek now controlled by the incompetent Canadian outfit Vertical Scope is hereby officially the crappiest watch- (and any hobby-) forum... In The World.

Constant scams and possible scam threat notifications.

New members are denied basic rights like posting links and pictures.

Locked me out of my Bernie-period account, they probably deleted everything during a massive security scare they had some years ago - deleted the email address I used to login, changed my password, can't login to my old account, although my posts of some 4 years ago are still there.

Contacted the admin twice over this - got no reply at all.

The forum and the website in general are very slow to load, buggy and could well be compromised by scammers spreading viruses and what not.

In a word, it's a stinking mess.

Better not go there at all. If you do, remember you do it at your own risk.

Watchuseek is whatchucrap!

ETA: April 17, 2019

Actually, scratch that, I think Watchuseek has been gradually improving recently.
I can even now access it on my iPhone - something I couldn't meaningfully do not so long ago.
Still it's a huge forum and site with lots of ongoing issues, performance wise.

Tom Ford Oud Wood Eau de Parfum 50 ml

Laid my mitts on this...

I am going to rate it later in this blog post after I have used it up... or maybe even before..

 ETA:

First impressions, it is very weak and doesn't last long, the usual 4-6 squirts under clothes don't work as I can barely smell it myself.

So either apply more at the same time (which won't solve the problem of longevity just intensity) or re-spray repeatedly throughout day.

As for scent, can't say much so far, maybe I would like it if it weren't so weak and I were able to smell it good.

Poljot 3133 Chronograph Movement

November and December 2018 Beer Report

Here is my beer report for the months of November and December in the year 2018 focusing mainly on craft beers.

Since November and December 2018 happened already a long time ago - last year! - I am mainly going to concentrate on providing pictorial evidence while restraining myself to the most basic like/dislike impressions but I will rate beers out of 5.

November and December 2018 beer is kitchen beer, so here goes.

Tsingtao Stout.

Liked this one, 3/5. On ratebeer also rated highly.

Looks good too, color and foam-wise.

Salden's Milkshake DIPA with Mango Puree.

The best in this report, so all of 3.95/5. Salden's is a Russian microbrewery.

Bakunin Salty Dog Gose.

Liked this one, 3.35/5.
